Krazer wins women’s gold, Jaffe & Fouse get silver, Nugent a bronze at Grand Prix of Spain

MADRID, Spain – The United States sent four of its young women’s wrestling stars to compete in the Senior-level Grand Prix of Spain, and all four are coming home with a medal.
Claiming a gold medal at 59 kg was Aubre Krazer of Pennsylvania. Silver medals went to Pennsylvanians Haylie Jaffe at 62 kg and Jordyn Fouse at 68 kg. Capturing a bronze medal at 65 kg was Daniella Nugent of Massachusetts.
All four have earned spots on the 2025 U.S. U20 World Team and used this respected European event as a tune-up for the U20 World Championships in Bulgaria in August.
Krazer, who has signed with Lehigh, won four straight bouts, defeating 2022 World bronze medalist and 2020 Olympian Jowita Wrzesien of Poland in the finals, 2-1. She was dominant in her first three matches, scoring two technical falls and a pin. In the semifinals, she smashed 2023 World bronze medalist Othelie Hoie of Norway in a 13-2 technical fall.
Jaffe, a 2023 U17 World bronze medalist, won her side of the bracket with a pair of wins, beating Danise Immacolata of Italy in the quarterfinals by technical fall, 16-6, then edging 2022 Canada Cup bronze medalist Ella Doornaert of Canada, 2-1.
The gold-medal finals was a battle between two of the top wrestlers in the U.S. women’s college system. Jaffe was a 2025 NCWWC national runner-up at 138 pounds from McKendree University, while Esther Kolawole of Nigeria was a 2025 NAIA national champion for William Penn University at 145 pounds. Kolawole beat Jaffe in the finals 10-0.
Fouse, who has signed with Grand Valley State, won a pair of decisions to earn her spot in the finals, beating Leilani Sky Hernandez of Puerto Rico, 7-4 in the quarterfinals and 2025 European U23 World bronze medalist Karolina Domaszuk of Poland, 6-5 in the semifinals. Fouse fell to 2024 World bronze medalist Adela Hanzlickova of the Czech Republic in the finals, 10-0.
Nugent, who will compete for the Oklahoma State club program, won her Group competition with victories over Ohla Padoshyk of Poland, 11-11 and Manuela Noguerol De Souza of Spain by pin. In the semifinals, Nugent dropped a 7-4 decision to Jonelle Clarke of Canada, then rebounded with a pin over Nerea Pampin Blanco of Spain in the bronze-medal bout.
“I am proud of the way these ladies handled the tournament. For most of them, it was their first time at a Senior international event and they did well. They handled mid-match adjustments, had a phenomenal attitude the whole time and wrestled with a lot of grit. What more can you ask for as a coach? This is just a beginning for this group. They have the Worlds coming up shortly, so it was great for them to add to their resume and match time. It is also extremely hot here, and they did great taking care of themselves and each other, which is part of the process and leads to success. Go Team USA,” said U.S. coach Brazel Marquez.
With just four athletes, the U.S. women finished fourth in the team standings behind teams with much larger delegations. Poland won the team title, followed by Canada and host Spain.
The tournament concludes Sunday with the men’s freestyle competition. The USA has no entries in men’s freestyle.
