Host Indiana was the overall state association champion at the 2025 USA Wrestling Kids Folkstyle Nationals, held this past weekend at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne.
USA Wrestling will be keeping state association team scores for its major youth national events during the 2025 season.
There were eight tournaments held during the two-day event in Fort Wayne, four for boys (8U, 10U, 12U, 14U) and four for girls (8U, 10U, 12U, 14U). State team standings were determined using the point scoring system used in high school scholastic wrestling tournaments.
The Indiana State Wrestling Association (ISWA) is the USA Wrestling state association in Indiana, and served as host for the USA Wrestling Kids Folkstyle Nationals.
Indiana led the overall team standing for all eight tournaments with 1,593.5 points, with Michigan in second with 927 points, Illinois in third with 903 points, Wisconsin in fourth with 750 points and Pennsylvania in fifth with 614 points.
Rounding out the top 10 teams in the overall standings were Ohio (sixth with 481.5 points), Missouri and Iowa (tied in seventh with 391.5 points), California (ninth with 273 points) and Oklahoma (10th with 261 points.
Indiana also won the combined boys standings, as well as the combined girls standings. In the boys standings, Indiana had 1,256.5 points, with Michigan in second with 818.5 points and Illinois in third with 644 points. In the girls standings, Indiana was first with 337 points, with runner-up Illinois with 259 points and third-place Ohio with 184.5 points.
Indiana won six of the eight individual tournament standings. The Hoosier State won the Boys 8U, Boys 10U, Boys 14U, Girls 8U, Girls 10U and Girls 14U tournaments.
Michigan was the state association champion in the Boys 12U division, while Pennsylvania was the state association champion in the Girls 12U division.
Watch out for state association standings at the next big event, the USA Wrestling Junior and 16U Folkstyle National Championships in Des Moines, Iowa, March 14-16.
