WARSAW, Poland – The United States earned three women’s freestyle medals at the respected Poland Open on Thursday, including two silver medals and a bronze medal.

Claiming silver medals for Team USA were Alexis Janiak (59 kg) and Jennifer Page (65 kg).

Janiak was defeated in the finals by 2019 U20 World bronze medalist Mariia Vynnyk of Ukraine, in a 10-0 technical fall. Vynnyk scored a takedown, then added two ankle laces and two gut wrenches to complete the victory.

Janiak opened the tournament with a pair of 10-0 technical fall victories. In the semifinals, she stopped 2017 U17 World bronze medalist Erika Bognar of Hungary, 6-3.

Janiak, a 2025 NCWWC national champion for Aurora University, won a U20 World bronze in 2023 and a U20 World silver in 2024 for Team USA. She is a current member of the Senior Women’s National Team.

Page, a 2023 Senior World bronze medalist and current member of the Senior Women’s National Team, was beaten in the finals in a wide-open battle by 2023 U20 World champion Eniko Elekes of Hungary, 14-9.

Page opened the match with a four-point takedown which was challenged by Hungary and denied, for a 5-0 lead. Elekes quickly scored a takedown to close it to 5-2, then added another to close it to 5-4. A Page head pinch turn, then a gut wrench gave her a 9-4 lead at the break. Elekes added a second-period takedown to make it 9-6. With less than 15 seconds left, Elekes scored six points, four on a takedown with exposure and then a last-second counter takedown

Page opened with a pair of technical falls to reach the finals over Nina Makem of the USA and Elma Zeidlere of Latvia.

Winning a bronze medal at 65 kg was Nina Makem, who scored a first-period fall on a cradle in the bronze-medal bout against 2021 U23 World bronze medalist Elma Zeidlere of Latvia.

After her opening loss to Page, Makem scored a pair of technical fall victories over Maria Sawiak of Canada and Maddie Kubicki of the USA to qualify for the bronze-medal round. Makem was a three-time NCWWC All-American for Augsburg.

Placing fifth after falling in the bronze medal match was Alara Boyd at 62 kg. Boyd opened with a pair of decisions, stopping Tynys Dubek of Kazakhstan, 8-6 and Aurora Campagna of Italy, 5-0. She was pinned in the semifinals by 2025 European silver medalist Sara Lindborg of Sweden. In the bronze-medal bout, 2025 European U23 bronze medalist Alicja Nowosad of Poland had a strong second period, and defeated Boyd, 13-6.

Boyd is a member of the 2025-26 U.S. Senior National Team and was a two-time U17 World medalist. She was a four-time NCWWC All-American for McKendree and North Central, with a 2021 national title for McKendree.

The final four U.S. women’s freestylers will compete on Saturday, Kaylynn Albrecht (72 kg), Alex Alli (72 kg), Joye Levendusky (76 kg) and Shenita Lawson (76 kg). The first of the U.S. men’s freestylers will also wrestle tomorrow, Dustin Plott (92 kg).
