Michaelson, Estrada among double champions at USA Wrestling Northwest Regional

CENTRALIA, Wash. – The USA Wrestling Regionals series continued last weekend with the Northwest Regional Championships being held at NW Sports Hub in Centralia, Wash.


There were nine double champions in the Junior boys division, athletes who won both the freestyle and Greco-Roman styles: Niko Selianitis of California at 100 pounds, Antonio Quiroz of Nevada at 106 pounds, Gage Singleton of Oregon at 120 pounds, Isaac Hampton of Oregon at 126 pounds, Pierson Manville of Pennsylvania at 144 pounds, Brandon Dean of Colorado at 157 pounds, Ezekiel McEwen of Washington at 175 pounds, Lars Michaelson of Washington at 215 pounds, and Trayvn Boger of Utah at 285 pounds.


The Junior girls had four athletes win first place in both freestyle and Greco-Roman tournaments: Genesis Cambron of Washington at 105 pounds, Abbi Cooper of California at 110 pounds, Zao Estrada of South Carolina at 120 pounds, and Tirza Twoteeth of Montana at 235 pounds.


Nine competitors in the 16U boys division doubled up on gold medals: Thales Silva of California at 88 pounds, Lazarus McEwen of Washington at 94 pounds, Evan Provost of Oregon at 100 pounds, Max Francisco of Alaska at 113 pounds, Ricardo Ortiz of California at 120 pounds, Christopher Grossman of Montana at 126 pounds, Hayden Reuter of Alaska at 150 pounds, Daniel Patrick of Oregon at 165 pounds, and Carson Langford of Oregon at 190 pounds.


Two competitors brought home double titles in the 16U girls division: Saige McCleery of Washington at 130 pounds, and Ayaka Naddy of California at 136 pounds.


The top six boys and girls in each weight class of the Junior and 16U divisions have qualified for their respective state teams for the 2024 USMC Junior and 16U Nationals in Fargo, N.D.


Additionally, there was a 14U festival held in both freestyle and Greco-Roman for both boys and girls.
