The 2024 Journeymen World Classic, set for Schenectady, N.Y., March 29-30, is once again shaping up as a great freestyle competition for Junior and Cadet boys and girls.

This unique event, which uses a round-robin format, features many top U.S. athletes and foreign competitors in the boys high school division. There are spots available to a limited number of talented wrestlers who wish to challenge themselves.

At this time, there are 72 international wrestlers from eight nations expected to compete at the World Classic from Armenia, Germany, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Poland, New Zealand and Uzbekistan,

There is also a girls high school division which will consist of tough domestic opponents. (The girls international tournament is held each fall). There is still room for more girls to enter the event this year.

There is also a Boys Middle School division included as part of this unique competition.

Saturday, March 30 is the individual tournament, with weigh-ins on Friday, March 29 from 4:00 p.m.-5:30 p.m. The individual tournament starts on Saturday at 9:30 a.m.

Spots are still available, but you should immediately email Frank@journeymenwrestling.com.

The competition will be held at the Union College Fieldhouse in Schenectady, N.Y.

For the U.S. boys and the foreign boys, there is a variety of talent levels, from World and Continental medalists as well as those with fewer achievements and less experience. Athletes will be placed with competitors with like skill levels.

Wrestlers rarely get an opportunity to compete against international competitors, and all of these foreign athletes are coming here to the USA to compete against you. This event will get you ready for the major national tournaments the rest of the spring and summer, especially for those who intend to try out for a U.S. age-group World Team or come home with hardware from Fargo.

Another popular part of this event is the USA vs. The World Duals for boys, which is designed for two domestic all-star teams to wrestle against two World All-Star teams. The duals are expected. Athletes are encouraged to enter both the tournament and the duals. Weigh ins for the duals carry over to the individual tournament.

The Journeymen’s International Camp will follow the competitions, set for April 1-2 in Schenectady. Please let organizers know if you wish to participate in this great learning experience.

The Journeymen World Classic is a great value to those who participate. Normally, a U.S. athlete has to purchase a UWW license for international competition, which costs $100 or more. However, United World Wrestling has waived the UWW license fee for U.S. wrestlers to compete in this event. All you need is a current USA Wrestling membership and pay the entry fee, and you can test yourself against top U.S. athletes as well as talented international opponents.

The World Classic will be broadcast live on FloWrestling.
