by Gary Abbott, USA Wrestling
GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala – The United States won all 10 individual gold medal and dominated the team standings in women’s freestyle at the 2025 Pan American U15 Championships on Friday.
Overall, the United States had a 36-1 record for the day in women’s freestyle, and won 32 matches by bonus points, either pins or technical falls. The USA scored the maximum amount of points in the team standings, with 250 points, a full 115 points more than runner-up Mexico with 135 points. Ecuador placed third in the standings with 107 points.
The U.S. individual champions were Julianna LaSavage of Wisconsin (33 kg), Jaelyn Anderson of Nebraska (36 kg), Brooklyn Henry of Pennsylvania (39 kg), Olivia Hernandez of Oregon (42 kg), Bella Manno of New Jersey (46 kg), Lyric Hetzer of Liberty, Ohio (50 kg), Olivia Kearns of Pennsylvania (54 kg) Jauzlyean Gray of Missouri (58 kg), Audrey Robinson of Oregon (62 kg) and Camilla Hathaway of Pennsylvania (66 kg).
Hernandez won the Golden Boot as the Outstanding Wrestler in the tournament. She pinned all three of her opponents in the first period, with a combined 2:15 on the mat overall.
The USA was so dominant that seven of the champions won all of their matches by pin or technical fall. In addition to Hernandez, Gray pinned all three of her opponents. The other team members with only bonus point wins were LaSavage, Anderson, Kearns, Robinson and Hathaway.
Henry lost her first match at 39 kg in a 3-3 criteria decision, then fought her way into the semifinals. She scored a pin in the semifinals over Andrea Flores Flores of Honduras then stopped Rubi Aguilar Montejo of Mexico, 7-1.
The women’s freestyle team was decided at the 2025 Women’s Nationals in Spokane, Washington in April, from the U15 National Championships.
The USA has now won two team titles in Guatemala, with the Greco-Roman team getting top honors on Thursday. The event concludes on Saturday with the men’s freestyle division. Session times on Saturday are 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Central time.
