FAIRFAX, Virginia – Six Greco-Roman standouts have secured a place at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials after emerging unscathed from the Last Chance Olympic Team Trials Qualifier on Saturday evening.

2023 U23 World Team member Tyler Eischens impressed with a perfect 4-0 record on the day at 77 kg without giving up a single point to his opponents. He navigated to the finals by pitching three shutout technical falls before topping current U.S. National Team member Noah Wachsmuth by a comfortable 6-0 score.

Eischens is a four-time NCAA qualifier, doing so three times for Stanford and once for North Carolina. He competed at the NCAA Division I Championships two weeks ago in Kansas City, going 1-2 at 174 pounds.

Three-time age-group World Team member Phillip Moomey exacted some revenge on his way to the 60 kg title at James W. Robinson Secondary School. Moomey capitalized on a four-point headlock with just over one minute remaining in his finals contest against Paxton Creese to complete a come-from-behind win, 7-6. His win over Creese flipped an 11-9 result from the 2023 Senior Nationals.

67 kg champion Duncan Nelson and 87 kg champion Fritz Schierl both upended age-group World medalists in the finals. Nelson earned a 3-1 decision over 2022 U17 World champion Joel Adams. Schierl emphasized his tournament with a 9-0 technical fall over 2018 U20 World silver medalist Andrew Berreyesa.

Also earning spots in the Olympic Trials were Brandon Marshall of Big Game Wrestling Club at 97 kg and heavyweight veteran Jacob Mitchell at 130 kg. Marshall finished in fourth place at the U.S. Open and Senior World Team Trials last year. Mitchell last competed at the 2021 World Team Trials where he finished in second place and was a third-place finisher at the 2020 Olympic Trials.

The Last Chance Olympic Team Trials Qualifier resumes on Sunday morning with the men’s freestyle competition. Action will begin in Fairfax at 10 a.m. (ET) with the finals scheduled for the 4 p.m. (ET) session.
