Amit Elor (Titan Mercury WC/NYC RTC) has been named the USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week on October 31, 2023.

Elor helped the United States to a fourth place finish at the 2023 U23 World Championships while winning her sixth age-group and eighth overall World title. She won four matches on the way to the title in Tirana, Albania, last week. She dominated the 72 kg bracket, picking up wins from two pins, a decision and a technical fall in the finals.

Last year, Elor became the youngest U.S. Senior World champion at age 18 and is now a two-time Senior World champion. She added her second consecutive U23 World title, and for the second time, Elor has won U20, Senior and U23 World titles in the same year. In addition to her two Senior World titles, Elor has won three U20 World titles, a U17 World title and two U23 World titles.

Elor faced UWW’s Jyoti Berwal in the gold medal match. She spun behind for a takedown, tied up the leg lace and turned four times. Elor spent just 21 seconds on the mat in the finals.

Leading up to the final match, Elotr faced three opponents that she had met before. In the semifinals, Elor defeated Poland’s Wiktoria Choluj by 5-0 decision, a rematch of last year’s U23 World Championship finals. In the quarterfinals, Elor bested Individual Neutral Athlete Viktoryia Radzkova with a pin at 18 seconds. She pinned Tunisia’s Zaineb Sghaier in 17 seconds in the qualification round.
