NWCA Division II releases first regular season poll

Manheim, PA – Defending National Champion St. Cloud State remains atop the National Wrestling Coaches Association Division II Coaches Rankings. In the first regular season poll of the year, released by the association Friday, the Huskies amassed 107 points to stay in the number one spot with Nebraska-Kearney (85 points) and Central Oklahoma (75 points) rounding out the Nation’s top three teams. 
INDIVIDUAL RANKINGS

Lindenwood remains in the four spot with 72 points, with Gannon breaking into the top five in this edition of the poll. McKendree dropped to the sixth spot while Indianapolis broke into the top ten joining West Liberty in a tie for the seven spot with 41 points. Division II’s #9 & #10 ranked teams stayed the same with Ashland and Adams State closing out the top ten. 
Super Region Four leads the six super regions with seven teams in the top 25 and 27 wrestlers individually ranked. The Great Lakes Valley Conference and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference lead the way with five ranked teams each, while the GLVC features the most ranked individuals with 19 – including three number ones. 
The top ranked wrestlers in each of the ten weight classes remain unchanged from December’s preseason poll. No. 3 Central Oklahoma leads with nine ranked individuals, with a Bronco ranked in every weight class aside from 285. Head Coach Steve Costanzo’s Huskies have eight wrestlers ranked individually, with top-ranked SCSU joined by #5 Gannon in putting eight wrestlers in the individual rankings. The Nebraska-Kearney Lopers feature the third-highest total of individually-ranked wrestlers with seven. 
The NCAA Division II Coaches Rankings are voted on and compiled by two head coaches from each of the six Super Regions. Following this edition of the poll, two more regular season rankings will be published leading up to the 2021 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships.
