Match of the Day: Hemida and Cassioppi wrestle in the U23 Nationals finals
by USA Wrestling
In his fourth trip to the U23 Nationals, Youssif Hemida was determined to get back on top of the podium. In 2017, Hemida finished runner-up, but in 2018 he took home the tournament title and earned a spot on the U23 World Team. Hemida went on to claim silver at the U23 World Championships in Bucharest, Romania.
In 2019, Hemida, a two-time All-American for Maryland who currently trains with the Cliff Keen Wrestling Club, fell to a fourth-place finish. In the third-place match he lost by technical fall to Iowa’s Anthony Cassioppi.
In 2020, Hemida advanced to the finals to face Cassioppi, a 2020 NWCA First-Team All-American, yet again.
