Match of the Day: Dylan Ragusin upsets Darian Cruz at the 2020 Senior Nationals
by USA Wrestling
One of the most surprising performances at the 2020 Senior Nationals came from incoming Michigan freshman Dylan Ragusin.
While Ragusin has achieved great success at the age-group level in freestyle, winning the 2017 16U division at Fargo, he is more known for his Greco-Roman prowess. Ragusin is a 2017 Cadet World Team member, a 2019 Junior World Team member and a two-time 16U Fargo champion in Greco-Roman. Additionally, this was Ragusin's first Senior-level tournament.
In the 57 kg round-of-16, Ragusin knocked off 2017 NCAA champion and current National Team member Darian Cruz. Proving that it wasn’t a fluke, Ragusin won his next two matches, including a, 16-5, technical fall over All-American Sean Russell in the semifinals. While he fell in the finals to Cadet and Junior World silver medalist Vito Arujau, Ragusin established himself as top prospect to watch going forward.
