Numerous reports indicate Fresno State has dropped wrestling today

California USA Wrestling has tweeted, Flowrestling has reported, and a number of other online and personal sources have confirmed, that Fresno State has dropped its Div. I wrestling program and will make a formal announcement shortly.
The Bulldog program, coached by Troy Steiner, was recently reinstated, and has shown considerable progress since the program was relaunched. It is also home for the Valley RTC, which has produced numerous Olympic-caliber athletes for the USA Wrestling program.
The Fresno Bee has reported that Fresno State is dropping three sports.The other two sports reportedly dropped are women's lacrosse and men's tennis.

Later today, Fresno State issued a press release confirming that it has dropped wrestling as well as varsity lacrosse and men's tennis. The release indicated that the move will save the athletic department $2.5 million annually.
