Match of the Day: Alex Thomsen wins a Junior Greco-Roman title at the 2017 USMC Nationals

Last weekend, Alex Thomsen shocked the 60 kg Greco-Roman field at Senior Nationals, bringing home a title. In the finals, Thomsen, who is entering his redshirt sophomore season at Nebraska, defeated fellow college stud Mosha Schwartz of Northern Colorado, 5-3. However, his most impressive win may have come in the quarterfinals, where he knocked off the top-seeded National Team member Taylor LaMont, 10-4. LaMont battled back to finish third.
Prior to Senior Nationals, the last time we saw Thomsen compete in Greco was at Fargo in 2017, where he won a Junior title.
