Just days after the completion of its first Underground 1 card, the Wisconsin Regional Training Center will bring back another competition for fans to enjoy.
Underground 2 will be held somewhere in Wisconsin on Wednesday, December 16, broadcast live on its Rokfin channel.
To kick off the card, a fantastic lightweight battle has been announced, as Wisconsin RTC wrestler and past NCAA champion Seth Gross will battle 2017 World silver medalist Thomas Gilman.
Gross is fresh off a victory over rival Bryce Meredith in Underground 1 on Tuesday, November 20.
Gilman, a star at Iowa, made two Senior World Teams, winning a silver medal at the 2017 Worlds in Paris, France, and placing fifth at the 2018 Worlds in Budapest, Hungary. Gilman was also a member of three age-group World Teams, including winning a Junior World bronze medal in 2014. Gilman currently trains with the Nittany Lion WC.
Gross won an NCAA title for South Dakota State and followed his coach Chris Bono to Wisconsin, where he completed his college career for the Badgers in 2020. Gross competed on a Cadet World Team and a Junior World Team early in his career.
Both athletes have qualified for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in April at 57 kg, so this is a potential preview of a future battle during their Olympic quest.
Additional matchups are expected in upcoming days, released through the Wisconsin RTC website and social media platforms.
