Match of the Day: World champion Jacarra Winchester and Dominique Parrish wrestle in the 2018 U.S. Open finals
by USA Wrestling
In 2018, future World champion Jacarra Winchester was aiming to make her first Senior World Team. Already waiting in Final X was 2017 World bronze medalist Becka Leathers.
In the U.S. Open finals, Winchester faced three-time National Team member and three-time U23 World Team member Dominique Parrish. With a win, Winchester put herself into the finals of the World Team Trials Challenge Tournament, where she would eventually face Parrish again in a best-of-three series for the right to challenge Leathers in Final X.
Winchester would go on to make the 2018 World Team and would finish fifth at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary. In 2019, Winchester would square off again with Parrish but this time in at Final X: Lincoln. Winchester would once again claim the World Team spot and go on to win gold in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan.
