Match of the Day: Alston Nutter makes the 2019 Junior World Team
by USA Wrestling
Emerging Greco-Roman star Alston Nutter made his second-straight Junior World Team in April, 2019. After a disappointing, 0-1, finish at the 2018 World Championships in Trnava, Slovakia, Nutter showed the immense progress he made over the course of the year and finished with a bronze medal at the 2019 World Championships in Tallinn, Estonia.
To make the Junior World Team, Nutter, who trains at Northern Michigan, had to defeat 2018 Cadet World Team member Hunter Lewis in a best-of-three series. Lewis, who wrestles collegiately for NC State, is a 2019 Junior Pan Am champion in Greco and a 2018 Cadet Pan Am champion in both Greco and men’s freestyle.
