Match of the Day: Lincoln McIlravy defeats World and Olympic champion Daniel Igali to claim bronze at the 1998 World Championships

Hawkeye legend Lincoln McIlravy won his first World medal at the 1998 World Championships in Tehran, Iran. This was McIlravy’s second World Team, as he placed 12th at the 1997 World Championships.
In the bronze medal match, the three-time NCAA champion and four-time finalist would face Canada’s Daniel Igali. McIlravy would walk away from this bout victorious and go on to finish with a silver medal at the 1999 World Championships and a bronze medal at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. Igali, would earn gold at both events.
