CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — A battle between the NAIA's top-two women's wrestling programs will be featured in Tiger Town on Wednesday afternoon as the No. 2 Lady Tigers host the No. 1 Running Eagles of Life University.
The Mid-South Conference dual is doubling as senior day for six Lady Tigers. Ceremonies will begin at 4 p.m. ET with the dual to follow at approximately 4:10 in the wrestling facility at Campbellsville University.
The dual will air on the Campbellsville University Sports Network at 4 p.m. with Zach Clements on the call.
Campbellsville ranked right behind Life by one voting point in the previous NAIA Coaches' Poll that was released before the NWCA National Duals. Life tallied 184 points while CU had 183.
At the NWCA National Duals, the Lady Tigers went 2-1 to finish runner-up to No. 4 Menlo College. Life University also went 2-1 to finish in third place after defeating No. 7 University of the Cumberlands.
Overall, the Lady Tigers have just the lone blemish on its schedule to Menlo – which is expected to be ranked No. 1 when the newest poll is released on Thursday, January 30. But the difference between the two is Campbellsville hasn't competed in a dual against any opponent outside the Top 11 all season.
The Lady Tigers and Life already have squared off this season at the Patriot Duals in Williamsburg, Ky. The Running Eagles were forced to forfeit their first three matches and the Lady Tigers never looked back with a 29-17 win.
The expected matchups:
101 - #7 McKenzie Bacich vs. #4 Faye Cherrier
109 - #2 McKayla Campbell vs. #9 Katalina Bartelt
116 - #3 Katlyn Pizzo / #8 Charlotte Fowler vs. #2 Peyton Prussin
123 - Adrianna Lopez vs. #3 Julia Vidallon
130 - #1 Abigail Nette vs. #8 Aysia Cortez
136 - #9 Randi Robison/Sophia Carson vs. #3 Alex Enriquez
143 - Gabrielle Garcia / #6 Mhina Oseitutu vs. #5 Erica Sotelo
155 - Alexia Foca vs. Elizabeth Bound
170 - #9 Mariah Harris / #3 Kenya Sloan vs. #7 Jordan Nelson
191 - Alexandra Castillo vs. #3 Gabrielle Hamilton
