Sonny Greenhalgh wins Giving Tuesday NCAA tickets drawing
by USA Wrestling
Thank you for donating during the USA Wrestling Giving Tuesday Campaign that launched on Thanksgiving Day and ended Dec. 31, 2019. We had 204 entries into the drawing for the two 2020 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships tickets.
Your support is impacting our athletes by allowing them to pursue their Olympic and World Championship dreams. As gold-medal hopefuls, they desire to represent the United States of America at the highest level. We are all very grateful for your generous gifts and excitement for this campaign.
The winner of the 2019 Giving Tuesday Campaign is Sonny Greenhalgh of Florida.
Sonny is a 2011 National Wrestling Hall of Fame Order of Merit recipient, who played a big role with the New York Athletic Club, serving as the chairman from 1977 through 2008. He was also named 2008 USA Wrestling Man of the Year.
When Sonny was told he had won the tickets, he was very surprised because he said doesn’t usually win anything. He has been attending the event annually since 1966, and he had decided not to go this year. When he learned he had won, he changed his mind on the spot. He will be there! Congratulations, Sonny!
