No. 6 North Carolina State Wins 7 of 10 Bouts in 29-12 Win over No. 12 Princeton

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State Wrestling team won seven of the 10 bouts, including four for bonus point wins, and defeating #12 Princeton 29-12 in Reynolds Coliseum.
NC State started the dual with a first period pin by #17 Daniel Bullard at 174 pounds. After a takedown seven seconds in, Bullard got the turn and a pin at the 1:58 mark to give the Pack a quick 6-0 lead.
The Pack went back-to-back bonus points, as #3 Trent Hidlay scored an 18-6 major decision. With seven takedowns and 3:18 of RT, Hidlay pushed the Pack’s lead to 11-0 after two bouts.
The Tigers first win came via bonus points at 197 pounds, as #3 Pat Brucki scored a 13-3 major decision over #8 Nick Reenan.
At heavyweight, Deonte Wilson scored a second period takedown and a reversal in the third period for the 6-1 (with 3:03 of RT).
#3 Patrick Glory scored a 17-2 tech fall over Tommy Cox, and halfway through the dual, NC State held a 13-9 lead.
R-Fr. Jarrett Trombley used an escape point in the third period to claim a 1-0 win at 133 pounds.
At 149, there was an injury default and the Pack was awarded six team points. Matt Grippi got in on a takedown on #15 Mike D’Angelo and picked him up but the takedown went out of bounds and D’Angelo could not continue at the 0:32 mark.
In a top-five battle at 157 pounds, #2 Hayden Hidlay scored takedowns in the first and the third periods and downed #5 Quincy Monday 7-2.
The final bout ended with Princeton’s Grant Cuomo scoring a 7-6 upset over #10 Thomas Bullard at 165 pounds.

NC State will be in road action next weekend, as the Wolfpack will wrestle at Drexel Friday night and then at Hofstra on Saturday afternoon.
