Strobel’s accomplishments stretch beyond the collegiate mats, but that is where he forever belongs. The goal is to raise $100,000 for Oregon State Wrestling. The funds raised will be designated toward the Oregon State University Wrestling discretionary fund to furnish the program with new mats for its practice facility and have them bear Strobel's name. In addition, Greg will be honored within the facility with a commemorative plaque.

Greg was a two-time National Champion and three-time All-American with Oregon State, capturing his national titles in both 1973 and 1974 at 190 pounds, and placed fifth in 1972 to earn his first All-American honor. In 1973, he was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler at the NCAA Championships. Strobel, who earned both a bachelor's degree and master's in business education from Oregon State, won three Pacific-8 Conference titles during his career at Oregon State and earned an NCAA Post-Graduate Scholar Athlete Award in 1975. He still holds the Oregon State record for consecutive wins at 74. He ended his career with 124 victories, which ranks ninth all-time at Oregon State.

Strobel’s impact on wrestling continued as a coach, including head coaching stints at the high school, college, and international levels. He served as the USA Wrestling National Teams Director from 1983-91 and U.S. National Freestyle head coach from 1987-88. He was also the Co-Head Coach for the 2000 U.S. Olympic Freestyle team.

He will be best remembered for his career as the head wrestling coach at Lehigh University. From 1994 through 2008, Strobel’s teams compiled a 189-83-1 dual meet record. He led the Mountain Hawks to six EIWA championships, including five in a row from 2002 through 2006. His wrestlers captured 28 individual EIWA titles and 30 All-American honors. Strobel also coached two NCAA champions: Rob Rohn in 2002 and Troy Letters in 2004.

Honor Greg's memory and contribution to Oregon State Wrestling, and the sport in general, with a gift today. Afford current and future student-athletes the ability to learn about Greg's passion and forever be reminded of the foundation he helped lay for them, paving the way for their success.
