Bout order set for strong card of men’s and women’s bouts at Wisconsin RTC Underground 2 on Dec. 16

Wisconsin RTC Underground 2 will be held somewhere in Wisconsin on Wednesday, December 16, broadcast live on its Rokfin channel.
A full card of competition has been announced, with competition for both men and women. An undercard of youth bouts will begin at 6:30 p.m. CT, followed by the main card at 7:00 p.m. CT. This weekend, the Wisconsin RTC announced the bout order.
Each of the matches have at least one competitor who is either on the University of Wisconsin wrestling team, the Wisconsin RTC program, or has a connection to the state of Wisconsin during their careers. There are Senior-level, college and high school athletes included on this card.
The final bout and Main Event is a high-level lightweight battle, as Wisconsin RTC wrestler and past NCAA champion Seth Gross will battle 2017 World silver medalist Thomas Gilman. Gross wrestled for South Dakota State and Wisconsin, while Gilman was a star at Iowa. Both have qualified for the 2021 U.S. Olympic Team Trials at 57 kg.
What makes this card even more interesting is that there is a wide variety of active college wrestlers from eight different programs included on the card.
A highly anticipated match of college stars will pit All-American Evan Wick of Wisconsin against North Carolina NCAA qualifier Kennedy Monday.
Three wrestlers from the Div. I team Little Rock will battle against Wisconsin opponents. UW wrestler Kyle Burwick will battle Little Rock’s Paul Bianchi. Badger Joe Zargo will face Joe Bianchi from Little Rock. UW’s Graham Calhoun has drawn Little Roch’s Tanner Mendoza.
Add in a pair of 2020 MAC champions from Central Michigan will face off with Wisconsin athletes. CMU’s Drew Hildebrandt battles Eric Barnett, and Dresden Simon of CMU battles Aiden Medora.
Badger wrestler Peter Christensen faces Itasca CC’s Jake Rau, while UW’s Chris Weiler will wrestle Wartburg’s Kobe Woods. Weiler is a graduate transfer from Lehigh, where he was a 2020 NWCA honorable mention All-American.
The four women’s bouts cover the Senior, college and high school levels.
Past Cadet World champion and Wisconsin RTC resident Ronna Heaton will battle Koral Sugiyama of the Twin Cities RTC, who was a college All-American at the Univ. of Cumberlands and is a past Senior Women’s National Team member.
Three-time Junior World medalist and multiple-time Senior National Team member Erin Golston will take on two-time WCWA All-American Maria Vidales of Emmanuel College.
College wrestlers Katelyn Gunderson of Lakeland is battling North Central College’s Mateah Roehl, both who are Wisconsin natives.
Two women athletes who have been ranked No. 1 in the nation at the high school level will battle, Kylie Welker of Wisconsin and Amor Tuttle of Minnesota. Welker is currently No. 1 in the nation at 144 pounds, while Tuttle is No. 6 at 138 pounds.
The night begins with three youth matches set for 6:30 p.m.
