Robert Horton, 49, chairperson of Team Georgia Wrestling, has passed away

Robert Horton, chairperson of Team Georgia Wrestling (the USA Wrestling affiliate in Georgia), passed away on Friday, November 27, 2020 at the age of 49.


In addition to his state leadership, Robert and Sherry were impactful leaders in the development of women’s wrestling. He also served on USA Wrestling’s ad-hoc Associated Styles Committee, assisting in the expansion of Beach Wrestling, Grappling, Belt Wrestling and Masters/Veterans Wrestling in the USA.


Before becoming involved with the sport of wrestling, Horton was a veteran of the United States Navy.


A loving husband and dedicated father, Horton is survived by his wife, Sherry Horton, children Alexis Tostenson, Tre’ Horton, Hailey Verde and Noah Horton, brother Steven Horton and sister Tauyna Creasey, father Chalmer Blaine Horton and mother Nancy Jo Pawuk Horton.


A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM, Saturday, December 12 at Bridge Community Church, 2026 Braselton Highway, Buford, GA 30519. The family will receive friends at the church from 3:30-4:00 PM on Saturday.
