Andy Bricker named Director of Wrestling for men's and women's teams at NCAA Div. II Lincoln Memorial

HARROGATE, Tenn. – Director of Athletics Jasher Cox has selected Andy Bricker as the inaugural Lincoln Memorial University director of wrestling, the LMU athletic department announced Wednesday afternoon.
Coach Bricker, a former Division I wrestler at Campbell University, arrives in Harrogate after spending the last 12 years as the head coach of Tampa Preparatory School.
"I am elated to have Coach Bricker launch our men's and women's wrestling programs," Cox said. "His understanding of the sport and recruiting experience in our region will be extremely valuable to our institution. We feel fortunate to have someone of his caliber and level of knowledge here at LMU. He also understands the value having a great experience both academically and athletically here in Harrogate."
During his time at Tampa Prep, Bricker was in charge of instructing technique, designing a strength and conditioning program, scheduling competitions, organizing travel, communicating with the local media, and managing the team's Twitter account. He coached seven wrestlers to individual state championships and had nine state runners-up. The team finished in the top five at the state championship on four occasions, and several wrestlers continued their careers at NCAA Division I and II schools.

"Making the decision to start a new program during a pandemic is not an easy one to make, but it shows the seriousness and determination of LMU to go all-in for the sport. I am excited to row the sport of wrestling for men and women and help them become part of Railsplitter nation."
While in Tampa, Bricker also worked for the Tampa Bay Area Brawlers Wrestling Club, the NCWA Wrestling Club at the University of Tampa, and the Florida Cadet and Junior Freestyle.Greco-Roman national team. He assisted in instruction and trained/instructed athletes from the area. He was also responsible for hosting and managing various wrestling camps and clinics. Across the clubs, he instructed several national champions/runners-up and served as a training partner for many athletes.
In 2011, he coached at the Pan-American Games and World Championships on the staff of the country of El Salvador. Assisting the female wrestlers, he organized practices and training and conditioning programs, while serving as a training partner.
Prior to his time in Tampa, Bricker served as the head assistant wrestling coach at NAIA Campbellsville University in Kentucky. He assisted with all aspects of the wrestling program, while also working with recruiting, conditioning, and the scheduling of matches. He also served as an instructor at camps and served as the team's public relations manager.
While assisting at Campbellsville, Bricker created and managed an individual education plan for wrestling team members. He helped coach 13 All-Americans and one national champion, six Academic All-Americans, and the team finished seventh at the 2007 National Duals.
Before coming to Campbellsville, Bricker was an assistant wrestling coach at Division I Campbell University, where he assisted with teaching skills and technique and supervised student-athletes while the team was traveling.
Bricker was a four-year scholarship wrestler at Campbell, where he was named team MVP for two consecutive seasons. A three-time all-conference wrestler, he was a Colonial Athletic Association conference finalist and also served as team captain. Bricker has the eighth most career wins in program history.
Bricker graduated from Campbell University with a bachelor of science in Physical Education (Teacher Education) in 2004.
The LMU men's and women's wrestling programs will take to the mat and begin competition in the 2021-22 season, becoming LMU's 24th and 25th collegiate sports.
