Before Kurt Angle launched a wildly successful career in professional wrestling, he was a monster on the mat in both folkstyle and freestyle. A Pennsylvania state champion, Angle wrestled collegiately for Clarion University where he would become a three-time NCAA finalist and two-time champion.
Angle took gold at the 1995 World Championships, defeating the returning World champion Arawat Sabejew of Germany in the finals by referee’s decision. At the 2016 Olympic Games, Sabejew would finish with bronze while Angle once again would earn gold.
