Fumita, Lorincz and Kayaalp claim titles on final day of Greco-Roman World Championships

Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan – Greco-Roman wrestling concluded this evening at the 2019 World Championships. The U.S. had no wrestlers competing today, and finished in 20th place out of 64 teams. The 10 wrestlers representing the U.S. combined for an 8-12 total record.
The three weight classes that finished today were 60 kg, 77 kg and 130 kg.
2017 59 kg World champion Kenchiro Fumita claimed a World title at 60 kg over 2018 World champion Sergey Emelin of Russia, in a wild 10-5 match. Fumita did not compete in the Senior World Championships last year but did win a U23 World title.
A runner-up in 2017 and 2018, Tamas Lorincz of Hungary punched through for his first World title at 77 kg with an 8-0 technical fall over Alex Bjurgberg Kessidis of Sweden.
At 130 kg, Riza Kayaalp of Turkey claimed his fourth World title over two-time World bronze medalist Oscar Pino Hinds of Cuba, 3-1.
