LOS ANGELES – As the momentum builds this week toward the highly anticipated Beat the Streets Los Angeles International Competition, Hollywood Wrestles Bollywood, two of Mexico’s top female wrestlers have joined the stellar line-up to square-off with World medalists from the U.S. and India.

Mariana Diaz Munoz at 53 kg and Maria Garcia Bautista at 68 kg have stepped in to replace India’s stars—Vinesh at 53 kg and Divya Kakran at 68 kg— both of whom had last minute scheduling conflicts.

The addition of two of Mexico’s most talented wrestlers further expands the growing reach of the annual event.  Diaz Munoz has exceled on both Pan American and World levels. Her burgeoning career began at a young age as she tallied a top-10 finish at the 2011 Cadet World Championships. The next year, she won bronze at the 2012 Junior Pan American Championships. Diaz Munoz has since competed almost exclusively at the Senior level, winning a bronze medal at the 2018 Senior Pan American Championships in Lima, Peru, and most recently finishing fourth at the 2018 University World Championships in Goiana, Brazil. She has also represented Mexico at the Senior World championships twice, in 2014 and 2015.

On Sunday, Diaz Munoz will face 2018 World silver medalist and 2019 Ivan Yarygin champion Sarah Hildebrandt.

Competing at 68 kg this weekend, Garcia Bautista recorded two top-five finishes in international competition, taking fourth at the 2018 Central American Caribbean Championship and following it up with a fifth-place finish at the 2018 University World Championships.

Garcia Bautista will face off against 2018 World bronze medalist and three-time Yarygin champion Tamyra Mensah-Stock from the USA team.

Throughout the rest of the dual, powerhouse India will face off against some of the USA’s women’s freestyle stars as part of Beat the Streets Los Angeles’ 5th Annual Benefit, which raises funds to support the non-profit’s wrestling programs for over 1,000 inner city youth in Southern California.

Tickets for the event this Sunday, March 31 at The Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles are available at universe.com/btsla-benefit. Fans can also watch it live on Trackwrestling.com with 2016 Olympic champion and three-time World champion Helen Maroulis and mixed martial artist, wrestler and former UFC Heavyweight Champion Josh Barnett as commentators.
