Several wrestlers look to add to their championship collection at USMC Girls Junior Folkstyle Nationals

Oklahoma City, Okla—Three Cadet World Team members, four returning Junior Folkstyle National champions and this year’s Cadet Folkstyle National champions load the Junior brackets for the first session of the 2019 Junior US Marine Corps Folkstyle National Championship.
2018 Cadet World gold medalist, Emily Shilson of Minnesota (106) is off to a good start for her third folkstyle National title; Shilson secures a first-period pin in her only match of the night.
The 94-pound Cadet folkstyle champion from earlier in the night and 2018 Cadet World bronze medalist, Sterling Dias of Nevada, moves up to 100 pounds to add another national title for the weekend.
Cadet World team member, Leah Castro of Ohio at 122 pounds, remains in the championship bracket by earning two falls.
The remaining 2018 Junior folkstyle national champions looking to repeat their titles include Samara Chavez (106) and Xochitl Mota-Pettis (132) of Texas, Tiyahna Askew of Georgia (144) and Gabrielle Hamilton of Illinois (200).
Of the 11 Cadet champions competing in the Junior division, ten still remain in the championships. Amara Devericks of California defeated the 180-pound Cadet champion Brianna Staebler of Wisconsin, who was disqualified in the second period.
Elisa Robinson of Kansas (180) and returning champion, Xochitl Mota-Pettis (132) of Texas, comes into the tournament with the #1 national-ranking respectively at 127 pounds and 180 pounds—both are in the championship round.
