U.S. is sending a tough team to the respected Thor Masters Greco-Roman tournament in Denmark

Patrick Smith of the USA, shown at the 2019 Dave Schultz Memorial, will compete in Denmark this weekend.
The U.S. will be sending a tough lineup to the Thor Masters Greco-Roman international tournament this weekend in Nykobing Falster, Denmark. It is a lineup that will include four past World Team members and some of the top young names in U.S. Greco-Roman wrestling.
2016 Olympian and 2018 World Team member Jesse Thielke (Beresford, S.D./NYAC/Legends of Gold RTC) will be looking to improve upon his silver medal finish at last year’s Thor Masters.
Three-time World Team member Patrick Martinez (Colorado Springs, Colo./NYAC) will also be representing the USA in Denmark. Martinez has made World Teams in 2015, 2016, and 2018.
Two-time World Team member and Junior World bronze medalist G’Angelo Hancock (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sunkist Kids) will be competing at 97 kg/213.5 lbs. Hancock is coming off of two UWW Ranking Series medals, including a gold medal most recently at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
At 77 kg/169.5 lbs., 2017 World team member and two-time Pan American champion Patrick Smith (Minneapolis, Minn./Minnesota Storm) is also entered.
2017 Cadet World gold medalist Cohlton Schultz (Parker, Colo./Sunkist Kids/EAP) will be making his senior level debut. In addition to Cadet gold, Schultz won a bronze medal at the 2018 Junior World Championships. Schultz is one of the current top prospects in U.S. Greco-Roman and has signed with Arizona State.
Also competing for the U.S. will be Pan American champion Alan Vera Garcia (Oviedo, Fla./Florida Jets). Vera won a Pan American championship for Cuba in 2016 but has since emigrated to the United States. In January, Vera won the Dave Schultz Memorial International in the one tournament he has competed in representing the United States.
Former U23 World Team members Jesse Porter (Ballston Lake, N.Y./NYAC/NMU-OTS) and Carter Nielsen (Foley, Minn./Minnesota Storm/NMU-OTS) will also be representing the U.S. at the event.
Wrestling will begin Friday, Mar. 15 at 4 p.m. local time.
