Jaydin Eierman is currently the No. 3 wrestler at 65 kg/143 lbs. for Team USA’s Men’s Freestyle National Team.

In addition to being on the National Team, Eierman is still a member of the University of Missouri wrestling team. A native of Columbia, Mo., Eierman chose to stay at home after high school. He has since become a two-time NCAA All-American for the Tigers in his first two years of eligibility.

At the 2019 MAC Championships this past weekend, Eierman earned his third straight MAC championship and was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament after finishing with two pins and a technical fall. This qualified him for his third straight NCAA Championships.

Eierman took time out of his busy schedule to answer some questions. Here are his top answers.

What is your favorite movie?

I think my favorite movie would be Radio. Back when I first saw it in theaters, I thought it was a really awesome film and I cried during it. As I got older I re-watched it and I just really like the story that no matter if he was different, they wanted to treat him as equal at the end.

Who is your favorite musical artist?

I like the Allman Brothers Band. My favorite song from them is Soulshine. That’s always a good song to listen to whenever I want to be in a good mood.

What is your favorite sport to watch other than wrestling?

New England Patriot football. I love Tom Brady. His story of what he had to go through in college and getting drafted in the sixth round was very inspiring to me. I also like Conor McGregor and Ben Askren in MMA.

Did you play any other sports growing up?

I played a little baseball and basketball, but it was mostly just wrestling growing up.

Who is your favorite wrestler to watch either past or present?

My dad, Mike Eierman. He was one of the most slick and creative wrestlers I’ve ever seen. Watching him and videos of him really gets me going about how good I can hopefully be one day.

What is your major?

Interpersonal relationships communications. I want to be a motivational speaker. I want to go to schools and talk to them about how to live a successful life and how you don’t need to drink or party to fit in to society.

What are some of your hobbies you enjoy doing off the mat?

I love playing Fortnite or just relaxing in bed and watching movies.

Why did you choose to go to Mizzou?

I chose to go to Mizzou because it was like a family atmosphere to me. I’ve always grown up around the program with my dad being a volunteer assistant here. They were the ones that really came after me and recruited me hard. I wanted to stay close to home and compete for my family and the people that actually care about me.

Do you have any prematch rituals?

Just listen to some music and clear my mind mentally to go out there calm and collected.

What motivates you?

What motivates me is knowing that there’s always someone out there better than me. And reaching that next goal in my life and reaching that next level is something that is driving me more and more every day.

What is your favorite thing about wrestling?

The mentality that it gives you. If I break my opponent mentally, it really makes me feel good about myself that all the hard work I’m putting in is paying off.

Do you like wrestling folkstyle or freestyle more?

I love freestyle. That’s what the Olympics are and that’s been my goal since I was a kid. I feel like it suits my style of wrestling more too.

What are your plans after this year’s NCAA tournament?

I’m planning on going right into the freestyle circuit. Get ready for the U.S. Open after the season and then get ready for the next year since it’s an Olympic year.

How important was having a good conference tournament weekend going into NCAAs?

It was really important because I found the way that I used to wrestle and the intensity that I lost but I found back. It’s really going to help me knowing that if I go into Nationals and keep my pressure that nobody will be able to withstand the pressure I’m going to bring.
