Clackamas CC has 20 point lead over NEO after day one at the NJCAA Nationals

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa - Clackamas CC, which placed seven athletes in the semifinal round, has the first-day lead at the 2019 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Nationals on Friday.
Clackamas has 112 points after day one, 20 points ahead of the rest of the field.
Last year, Clackamas placed second in the team standings, but entered the tournament as the No. 1 ranked team. Their semifinals include Zeth Brower (125), Elijah Ozuna (141), Joel Romero (157), Mason Mcdaniel (165), Trajan Hurd (174), Trevor Senn (184) and Joey Daniel (197) .
The 2018 national champions from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M is in second place with 92 points, with five in the semifinals. NEO was ranked second coming into the tournament.
Iowa Central, which was third at last year’s nationals, holds the No. 3 spot after day one, led by six semifinalists with 85.5 points. Iowa Central had a No. 4 ranking prior to the tournament.
Pushing five into the semifinals, including three athletes who hail from Mongolia, is Northwest Kansas, which was the No. 3 ranked team in the final NAIA poll. Northwest Kansas has 74.5 points.
None of the 2018 NJCAA individual national champions return, but three 2018 runners-up are in the field and all have reached the semifinals: Munkhbat Bat-erdene of Northwest Kansas at 133 pounds, Ethan Karsten of Iowa Central at 157 pounds and Tyree Sutton of Iowa Central) at 197 pounds.
The semifinals will be held Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m., with the championship finals at 7:00 p.m. CT. All of the action is live on FloWrestling
