Women's freestyle roster released for U15 World Championships

Team USA will be sending a seasoned group of U15 woman’s freestyle wrestlers to participate in the first U15 World School Combat Games in Budapest, Hungary, next week. This event is considered an age group level World Championship by United World Wrestling (UWW).
All ten wrestlers competing won UWW U15 Nationals’ titles this May, which qualified them for the team.
Despite their young ages, many of these wrestlers already have international experience. Four of the wrestlers on the roster are U15 Pan-American champions, including Valerie Hamilton (36 kg), Alexandra Szkotnicki (42 kg), Korina Blades (58 kg) and Destiny Rodriguez (66 kg). Jennifer Soto (54 kg) is a Pan American silver medalist.
The rest of the lineup is composed of wrestlers that have achieved the highest levels of domestic success in their age groups. This includes, novice Folkstyle Nationals champion Gigi Bragg (33 kg), novice Women’s Nationals freestyle runner-up Jasintai Mallqui (39 kg), California schoolgirl Folkstyle Nationals champion Paige Moralez (46 kg), novice Women’s Folkstyle national champion Olivia Messerly (50 kg), and Women’s Nationals schoolgirl freestyle runner-up Reese Larramendy (62 kg).
The men’s and women’s freestyle portions of the competition will take place on June 18, and Greco-Roman will occur on June, 19.
