Molinari wins Yasar Dogu title at 65 kg

ISTANBUL, Turkey – Forrest Molinari earned the first gold medal for USA this weekend at the Yasar Dogu International in Istanbul, Turkey, winning the 65 kg bracket in women’s freestyle.
For the title, Molinari took on two-time Ivan Yarygin International bronze medalist Natalya Fedeoseeva of Russia.
Molinari, a two-time Senior World Team member, led 1-0 at the break, scoring on a shot clock penalty. In the second period, Molinari used a takedown and gut wrench to propel her to a 5-2 win and a gold medal.
With the win, Molinari has secured the No. 2 seed for the World Championships in Kazakhstan as the Yasar Dogu is a UWW Ranking Series events, where competitors earn points toward their seeds based on performances.
She entered the tournament ranked No. 4 in the World. The two ranked in from of her did not compete in Turkey, giving Molinari the edge.
The tournament continues on Saturday with eight men’s freestylers competing.
