Bono, Cartwright, Manahan to be inducted Into Midlands Hall of Fame

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. — This year during the 57th Annual Midlands Championships, the Ken Kraft Midlands Hall of Fame will add the following three individuals to its Hall of Fame on Monday.
CHRIS BONO
A four-time Midlands champion as a competitor and once as a coach, Chris Bono has been an NCAA Champion, a two-time Big 12 champion, and a four-time freestyle national champion. He attended Iowa State, where he won the 150-lb title as a junior. He has since coached at Iowa State as an assistant before moving to head coaching jobs at Chattanooga, South Dakota State and, currently, Wisconsin.
JIM CARTWRIGHT
A four-time IWCOA Coach of the Year, Hall of Fame Inductee and previous winner of the association's Lifetime Achievement Award, Jim Cartwright coached at James B. Conant High School for over 25 years. He was once coached by the legendary Art Kraft while wrestling at Triton Junior College.
MIKE MANAHAN
Mike Manahan coached for over thirty years at Olympia High School, leading squads that won nine IHSA Class A Regional Titles, four IHSA Sectional Titles, and three Conference Championships. A two-time IWCOA Coach of the Year recipient at Olympia, he was inducted into the IWCOA Hall of Fame and has previously been named the association's Man-of-the-Year.
The addition of these three members brings the grand total of the prestigious Midlands Championships Hall of Fame to 62 inductees. The induction ceremony will take place before the final session of the Championships on Monday, Dec. 30, at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. Director of Midlands Tim Cysewski will present the inductees with their Hall of Fame plaques at center mat.
