The Illinois Retional Training Center has added two more Senior-level athletes, both who were high school stars from Illinois, Greco-Roman wrestler Max Nowry and freestyle wrestler Nick Dardanes.

These athletes will join Isaiah Martinez (74KG FS), Zane Richards (57KG FS), Jesse Delgado(57 KG FS) and Travis Rice (63KG GR) on the IRTC Senior Level Roster.

Max Nowry

• 2018 US Open Champion

• 4X National Team Member

• 2012 University World Champion

• Pan-American Games Champion

"To be able to train out of Illinois once again is a great feeling because that is where my Olympic journey began. Being involved with the IRTC during its building process is a great feeling and I look forward to more of the top younger wrestlers continuing to stay and train in Illinois. This (the IRTC) isn't just for age group levels but for Senior-level wrestlers as well."

“Max is a great representative of what Illinois Wrestling is all about. He grew up in the system and it is great to have him back. His situation is unique as he will continue to compete for the Army and fulfill his duties as a soldier but will also spend time training in Illinois. This is a mutual partnership with all parties having the exact same goal – World and Olympic Gold Medals for Max in 2019 and beyond."

Nick Dardanes

• All-American -University of Minnesota

• 100+ NCAA Wins

• 2018 4th place US Open

• 2018 4th World Team Trials

"The opportunity to go to the IRTC was one I had to take for many reasons. The coaching staff at the university and the club are on the same page to get the most out of each individual. Coach Medlin is a friend of mine and his practice structure, and the guys in the room, make it a great environment to be the very best wrestler I can be. It's close enough to home (Chicago) but far enough away to enjoy the outdoors... The university guys I rolled with are young and tough and the mutual respect we have for each other to get better is awesome. We're all trying to do something special and it's going to be exciting."

“Nick is everything you want in an athlete. He loves the sport with a great passion and is awesome to have in the room. He is a native Illinois wrestler and it is a great to have him home. We are really excited to help him improve because we think he has an extremely high ceiling. An in shape and confident Nick Dardanes is a scary person to have in front of you.”
