SKOPJE, Macedonia – The Veteran Freestyle World Championships came to a close on Sunday with Jordin Humphrey of Monrovia, Calif., winning bronze for the U.S. in the A Division at 70 kg in Skopje, Macedonia.

“After winning both USA Masters in freestyle and Greco-Roman in Las Vegas, my teammates convinced me to go wrestle at the Veterans World Championships. I’m glad they did,” Humphrey said.

Humphrey opened the tournament with an 8-6 decision against Spain’s Airam Gonzalez before dropping a close 4-1 bout to Amiran Tsikvadze of Georgia.

Humphrey was pulled back into repechage when Tsikvadze advanced to the finals. In the bronze-medal match, Humphrey pinned host country’s Ille Gorgiev after leading 6-0.

The U.S. leaves Macedonia with five World medals, including one gold, one silver and three bronze.
