11 wrestlers claim medals at Eduardo Campbell Cup, highlighted by five golds

PANAMA CITY, Panama – This weekend, the Northern Michigan-Olympic Training Site Greco-Roman team sent 13 athletes to the Eduardo Campbell Cup in Panama City, Panama, where five wrestlers won gold medals, four snagged silver and two finished with bronze.
“We love this tournament. The people are great and it's a good warm up for the season,” NMU-OTS head coach Rob Hermann said. “We have good competition and get a lot of matches from the Panamanians and other Central American countries that are represented. The Eduardo Campbell Cup represents the first steps towards a successful season for the wrestlers in the NMU program.”
Winning gold medals were Mason Hartshorn at 60 kg, Riley Briggs at 67 kg, Colin Shubert at 77 kg, George Hooker at 87 kg and Khymba Johnson at 97 kg.
Briggs, Schubert and Johnson each went 6-0 en route to gold.
The four athletes that finished with silver included Jordan Auen at 67 kg, Spencer Woods at 77 kg, Zach Merrill, representing Puerto Rico, at 97 kg and Marc Leon at 130 kg.
Bronze medalists were Aaron Kliamovich at 77 kg and Roy Nash at 97 kg.
The next overseas tournament for NMU-OTS will be Sweden at the end of October. There will be 28 wrestlers attending this two-tournament and camp tour.
