Howk, Hedrick, Liles, Laurent and Fiske receive draws for 2018 Junior Worlds

TRNAVA, Slovakia – The final five representatives for the U.S. Junior women’s team received their draws for Thursday at the Junior World Championships in Trnava, Slovakia.

Wrestling for the USA tomorrow is 2017 Cadet World Team member Alisha Howk at 53 kg, 2018 U.S. Open champion and Senior National Team member Alex Hedrick at 57 kg, two-time Cadet World Team member Alex Liles at 62 kg, 2018 Fargo champion Jayden Laurent at 65 kg and U.S. Open All-American Alyvia Fiske at 72 kg.

At 53 kg, Howk will begin her tournament against Nina Kollarova of host country Slovakia. Kollarova placed 16th at this year’s Junior European Championships.

Hedrick, who will wrestle off for a spot on the Senior World Team next month, will face the winner of bout between Tamara Dollak of Hungary and three-time age-group World medalist Viktoria Vaulina of Russia.

To open her day at 62 kg, Liles drew 2017 Junior European silver medalist and 2015 Cadet Nordic champion Hedda Strand of Norway.

Laurent will begin her first World Championships against Yue Zhang of China. Zhang won bronze at the 2018 Senior China Open earlier this year and owns a gold medal from the 2017 Cadet Asian Championships and a bronze from the same event in 2016.

At 72 kg, Fiske will battle Zsuszanna Molnar of Hungary, who won the Cadet European Championships this year. Last year, Molnar finished eighth at the Cadet World Championships.

Thursday morning’s action is set for 10:30 a.m. local time (4:30 a.m. ET). Fans can watch all the action live on Trackwrestling.com.
