COLUMBUS, Ohio – Seniors Micah Jordan, Myles Martin and Joey McKenna are entrenched as team captains for the 2018-19 Ohio State Wrestling season. The Buckeye trio has combined for seven trips to the All-America stand and an overall record of 259-44 (.855) thus far in their collegiate careers. All three are slotted first or second nationally at their respective weight class in the preseason rankings as well.
Jordan is looking to drop back down to 149 pounds, a weight which he placed fourth in 2017 prior to last year’s sixth-place effort at 157 pounds. He paced the Buckeyes with 10 pins a season ago and has a shot at capturing his third consecutive Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational (Nov. 30-Dec. 1).
Martin enters ’18-19 as the country’s top-rated 184 pounder. He ascended to the peak as the 174 lbs. NCAA champion in 2016 with eyes on bookending his career at the top once again this season. Martin has earned All-America honors three straight years, including two trips to the NCAA Finals.
McKenna is a three-time conference champion (Big Ten 2018; Pac-12 2016-17) with a pair of All-American recognitions. He’s found tremendous freestyle success during the offseason, crowned as the U.S. Open champion (65-kg) to snag a spot at Final X State College.
