A runner-up in last year's World Team Trials, National Team member Kyven Gadson finds himself in the Trials finals again, seeking the opportunity to represent the United States at 97 kg at the Senior World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, in October.
To get to the World Championships, he must go through three-time World and Olympic champion Kyle Snyder in Lincoln, Neb., on June 9. The two wrestlers have met up four times in their careers, twice in folkstyle and twice in freestyle. They split the series, 2-2, with Gadson taking both folkstyle wins, one of which was the 2015 NCAA Championships finals. Snyder's two freestyle wins came last year in the World Team Trials finals, where he picked up 10-0 and 13-2 tech falls to make his second Senior World Team.
It's been nearly a year since they last met and Gadson said he has made some changes in his wrestling as well as his mentality and is excited for another opportunity to match up with Snyder. Gadson and Snyder will do battle on June 9 in Lincoln in the first stop of the Final X series. Tickets are available HERE.
