United World Wrestling released its May 2018 Ranking Series standings in women's freestyle, which featured three U.S. wrestlers holding No. 1 rankings in their weight class.
The three Americans on top of the standings are Sarah Hildebrandt (53 kg), Kayla Miracle (63 kg) and Adeline Gray (76 kg).
Hildebrandt, a 2016 World Team member, won a gold medal at the recently completed Pan American Championships in Peru. She was also a bronze medalist at the Klippan Lady Open, a ranking event.
Miracle, a four-time WCWA college champion for Campbellsville and a multiple age-group World medalist for Team USA, won a bronze medal at the Pan American Championships and a gold medal at the Klippan Lady Open.
Gray, a three-time World champion, five-time World medalist and 2016 Olympian, won gold medals in both the Pan American Championships and the Klippan Lady Open.
The 2018 season is the first in which United World Wrestling is utilizing an objective ranking system. The points acquired at continental championships and select rankings series will determine the top four seeded athletes at the 2018 World Championships in October held in Budapest.
Two other U.S. women received top five rankings, Forrest Molinari (No. 3 at 65 kg) and Whitney Conder (No. 4 at 50 kg). Both Molinari and Conder won gold medals at the Pan American Championships.
Although domestic events do not count towards the UWW Ranking Series, Conder, Hildebrandt, Miracle and Gray won U.S. Open titles in late April and Molinari was second at the Open.
The other U.S. wrestlers who have scored points in the UWW Ranking Series and are in the current standings include:
No. 10 at 72 kg - Hanna GLADDEN (USA) // 14 Points
No. 12 at 55 kg - Becka LEATHERS (USA) // 15 Points

No. 16 at 72 kg - Rachel WATTERS (USA) // 12 Points
No. 17 at 72 kg - Victoria FRANCIS (USA) // 12 Points
The U.S. had three 72 kg wrestlers in the standings, but did not have anyone at either 59 kg or 68 kg.
Turkey has a pair of No.1-ranked wrestlers, Bediha Gun (55 kg) and Elif Yesilirmak (59 kg). Both claimed medals at the Klippan Lady Open and European Championships.
Mariya Stadnik of Azerbaijan, who recently captured her eighth European title, occupies the top spot at 50 kg. Other top-ranked wrestlers in women's wrestling include Irina Ologonova of Russia (57 kg), Petra Olli of Finland (65 kg), Laura Skujina of Latvia (68kg) and Jenny Fransson of Sweden (72kg).
