USA Wrestling has compiled a preliminary list of qualifiers for the UWW Junior Freestyle World Team Trials, set for Rochester, Minn., May 18-19.

The list is based upon the 2018 UWW Junior MFS World Team Trials Qualifications and Procedures.

The list includes all of the athletes who have qualified for the event through major USA Wrestling freestyle events which are included in the qualifications.

Not included in this list are other potential qualifiers from folkstyle events who meet the age requirements (Born 1998-2000, 2001 with medical certificate). The athletes who qualify through folkstyle include: 1) All-Americans from 2017 or 2018 NCAA D-I Nationals; 2) All-Americans from 2018 Folkstyle Nationals; 3) 2018 NCAA Div. II or Div. III finalists; 4) 2018 NAIA champions; 5) 2018 NJCAA champions

These are projected weight classes, and athletes can weigh in at any weight class, not just the one in which they qualified.

The champions of the 2018 UWW Junior Nationals in freestyle advance directly to the best-of-three Championship Series of the UWW Junior Freestyle World Team Trials in Rochester if they enter at the same weight class.

2017 Junior World champion Daton Fix (Titan Mercury WC) placed second in the 2018 U.S. Senior Open at 57 kg. According to the procedures, Fix is eligible to delay a best-of-three series for the 2018 U.S. Junior World freestyle team if he competes at the Senior Freestyle World Team Trials Challenge Tournament, also being held in Rochester, Minn. the same weekend. Fix is expected to compete in the Senior event, and would be able to have a wrestle-off for the 57 kg Junior World Team spot at a later date against the winner of the UWW Junior World Team Trials.

Winners will qualify for the U.S. team at the 2018 UWW Junior World Championships in Trnava, Slovakia in September.

Athletes may register online for the UWW Junior Freestyle World Team Trials through Wednesday, May 16 at 8:00 a.m. Central Time.
