Wrestling fans have the unique opportunity each year during the NCAA Div. I Championships to see many of the top stars of the U.S. National Team in training between sessions of the competition in Cleveland, Ohio.

This year, USA Wrestling practices will be held between sessions all three days of the tournament in Cleveland, held at the Fan Fest, which is located at Huntington Convention Center – Hall A.

There was a big turnout of fans on day one of the workouts, which is held alongside a variety of Fan Fest activities as well as the WIN Memorabilia Show.

The United States is fresh off the 2017 World Team Title in men’s freestyle wrestling and many of the stars of that team, as well as other top National Team members in each weight class, will be on hand.

Friday’s practice begins a little bit earlier than on Thursday, with a scheduled 3:15 p.m. start time. In addition to focused training, there are expected to be some live matches towards the end of the workout.

Friday is the day of the autograph session, scheduled for 4:45 p.m. Included in the group of those signing will be all three of USA Wrestling’s National Freestyle Coaches, Bill Zadick, Kevin Jackson and Joe Russell.

Zadick, a 2006 World champion, led Team USA to the World Team Title in 2017, its first in 22 years. Jackson, an Olympic and two-time World champion, wrestled on two U.S. World champion teams as an athlete. Russell, a head coach at George Mason and long-time Minnesota assistant, is one of the most inspiring wrestling leaders in the USA.

Athletes who will also be available for signings include World champion Logan Stieber, World bronze medalist Nick Gwiazdowski and Junior World silver medalist Alex Dieringer. Stieber won four NCAA titles at Ohio State, Dieringer had three NCAA crowns for Oklahoma State and Gwiazdowski won two NCAA titles for NC State.

These workouts are part of the USA freestyle preparation for the upcoming Freestyle World Cup in Iowa City, Iowa, April 7-8.
