Yianni Diakomihalis was one of the nation's top college recruits, a Cadet World champion and New York prep star who decided to stay in-state and attend Cornell. Instead of taking a redshirt year, Diakomihalis was pressed into duty as a true freshman, and is a leader on a talented young Big Red team. Holding a high national ranking, Diakomihalis was impressive on the way to the EIWA title this past weekend at 141 pounds. Not only did his offense shine all weekend, but Yianni carried himself like a veteran, instead of a rookie in his first conference meet. The NCAA Championships await this talented star, who says that he has no fear, in spite of the high expectations for him in college. Photo by Joe D'Aquilo, Phototrens.
