Tulsa, Okla. – In previous years, the women’s Junior Duals tournament was held during the last days of Fargo Nationals. However, this year junior men and women will wrestle alongside one another at the Cox Business Center for the 2018 Junior National Duals.

Wednesday kicks off the last installment of age-group National Duals that will run through Saturday.  Greco-Roman and women’s freestyle’s first whistle blows at 9 a.m. and finishes up the next evening. Men’s freestyle begins Friday morning at 8 a.m. and finals will commence at Saturday evening.

State-level teams made up of ninth to twelfth graders will battle their way to a team national championship. These age-group national tournaments give opportunities to young wrestlers for exposure and experience at the national level.

Last year in Greco-Roman and freestyle, Minnesota Blue and Illinois fought for the national title in both final rounds. Illinois ran away with the title for Greco-Roman by defeating Minnesota 41-21. However, the freestyle finals ended with a nail-biting team score of 33-31, and Minnesota held their freestyle national title high.

The women’s dual championship dual presented just as much tension. Coming down to the final match, Washington defeated defending back-to-back national dual champions, California Red, 33-32.

The UWW Senior Greco-Roman World Team Trials also joins Junior National Duals this year. You can find more information at the event web page, and catch the action live at Flowrestling.
