2018 Schoolboy/girl National Duals set for Indianapolis, Ind., June 7-10
by Koral Sugiyama, USA Wrestling
This week, USA Wrestling state associations take their top schoolboy/girl athletes to Indianapolis, June 7-10 to battle head-to-head for the 2018 Schoolboy National Duals championship title.
This event creates an opportunity for schoolboy/girl athletes, ages 13-14, to get the widest possible exposure to national caliber competition in freestyle and Greco-Roman.
In 2017, Team Georgia Blue came out on top in the Greco-Roman finals, defeating Team Washington 53-22. Team Illinois defeated Team Georgia Blue 38-35 two days later for the freestyle finals dual.
In third for duals, Team Illinois overcame Minnesota Gold 39-35 in Greco-Roman with Team Washing overpowering Oklahoma Red 40-28 for freestyle.
Athletes who go undefeated in a style with a minimum number of bouts achieve the coveted All-Tournament Team honor.
Many Olympians, World champions, NCAA titlists and, Division I All-Americans have come out of Schoolboy/girl National Duals the past dozen years. The full list can be found at Trackwrestling.com
Held alongside the duals this year is the Junior Greco-Roman World Team Trials on June 8.
You can catch the Schoolboy/girl National Duals streaming live on Trackcast.
