Ramos advances to Cadet World finals at 55 kg, Ferrari pulled into repechage

ZAGREB, Croatia – U.S. representative at 51 kg Matthew Ramos earned a bid to the 2018 Cadet World Championship finals, set for Wednesday night in Zagreb, Croatia.
With three Americans in the semifinals, Ramos was the only one to advance, edging out 2018 Cadet Asian bronze medalist Seyedfran Jafariangelyerd of Iran to secure a spot in the 51 kg finals.
Against the Iranian, Ramos scored two on exposure in the closing seconds of the first period, which eventually gave him the advantage on criteria in the 2-2 win.
The two other U.S. semifinalists, Chance Lamer and Alex Facundo, fell short of a finals bid and will wrestle tomorrow night for bronze.
Lamer lost a 10-0 tech to Rafayel Harutyunyan of Armenia at 45 kg, while Facundo lost the lead late in the bout, falling to Baliyan Gourav, 6-5.
At 92 kg, AJ Ferrari was pulled back into repechage after Cadet Asian champion Alireza Abdollahi advanced to the finals. Ferrari will compete in repechage tomorrow morning, in search of a bronze medal.
The final medal matches for men’s freestyle will begin at 6 p.m. local time (12 p.m. ET) live on Trackwrestling.com.
