Website and registration open for USMC Girls Folkstyle Nationals and Women’s U23 Nationals in Oklahoma City

The official website has been launched and on-line registration opened for the popular women’s wrestling events set for the Cox Convention Center in downtown Oklahoma City, Okla., March 22-25.
Athletes can now register for the U.S. Marine Corps Girls Folkstyle Nationals and the Women’s U23 Nationals/World Team Trials.

PLEASE NOTE: Athletes will receive a discount of $40 off their registration fee by booking with a sponsor hotel. You should book your hotel before registering for these tournaments. The registration is $45 with a hotel code, but jumps to $85 without a hotel code.

The U.S. Marine Corps Girls Folkstyle Nationals is the annual national championships for girls in folkstyle wrestling, which is also known as scholastic wrestling. Competition is held in the Junior, Cadet, Schoolgirl and two youth divisions.
The U.S. Marine Corps Girls Folkstyle Nationals will be an important event for the new National Girls High School Wrestling Rankings, organized by USA Wrestling, FloWrestling and the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. High school athletes who wish to be selected for these rankings, or wish to improve their national ranking, are highly encouraged to compete in this event.

The Women’s U23 Nationals/World Team Trials is a new event which was created in 2017, for women’s freestyle athletes who are 18-23 years old. This event is the qualifying event for USA Wrestling’s U23 World Team, which will compete at the 2018 U23 World Championships in Bucharest, Romania, Nov. 12-18.
The U23 Nationals replaces the Women’s University Nationals, which had been in Oklahoma City the last six years.

Participants at the U.S. Marine Corps Girls Folkstyle Nationals will have the ability to participate in the Women’s UWW Cadet and Junior Development Camp Series, which will be held immediately following the tournament at Oklahoma City University from March 25-28. Deadline to register is March 1.

In 2017, USA Wrestling set a record for the number of participants in this combined women’s wrestling event. There were 945 athletes at the U.S. Marine Corps Girls Folkstyle Nationals, 96 wrestlers at the Women’s University Nationals, and 13 teams at the Junior Women’s Folkstyle Duals.
