A first look at the talents in the expected field at the 20th Dave Schultz Memorial International, Nov. 1-4

The projected field is starting to take shape for the 20th Dave Schultz Memorial International, which will be held in Sports Center I at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., Nov. 1-4.
Top competitors from the United States and a number of other nations are expected to attend, competing in the three Olympic disciplines of the sport. This event will feature the new 2018 international weight classes, which will include 10 different weight classes for each style. In addition, the new UWW two-day event format will be in place for this year’s Dave Schultz Memorials.
Below is a preliminary list of projected participants, which has been collected from online entries and information from USA Wrestling National Coaches, clubs, RTCs, colleges and individual athletes. For some athletes, which new weight classes they will compete has not been determined. As more information is received, this will be updated.
Included are athletes from the United States, Armenia, Brazil, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Mexico, Mongolia and Norway. A team from Russia is expected, but the final lineup has not yet been determined.
Fans who can not attend in person can enjoy a live broadcast of the Dave Schultz Memorial International on Flowrestling.
Korea is bringing a large team, loaded with Senior-level stars. Included on their roster are 2012 Olympic champion and 2013 World champion Kim Hyeon-Woo, as well as two-time World champion and Olympian Ryu Han-Soo, both in Greco-Roman. Ryu also boasts a 2015 World silver medal. 2017 World bronze medalist Kim Seung-Hak is also on the Greco-Roman roster.
The Korean delegation includes 20 athletes who have competed in at least one Senior World Championships, including six in men’s freestyle, seven in women’s freestyle and eight in Greco-Roman.
2014 World silver medalist Aline da Silva Ferreira of Brazil is among 38 athletes on the preliminary list who have competed at the Senior World Championships. Included are World Team members from Armenia, Brazil, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Mongolia, Norway, Mexico and the United States.
Expected U.S. athletes include two-time World Team members Tony Ramos in men’s freestyle and Victoria Anthony in women’s freestyle. 2017 U.S. Senior World Team members expected to compete include G’Angelo Hancock in Greco-Roman and Mallory Velte in women’s freestyle. Past World Team member Erin Clodgo is also competing in the women’s freestyle field.
2016 Greco-Roman Olympian Jesse Thielke of the USA is among 10 past Olympians on the list of those expected so far. Others include seven Olympians from Korea, as well as an Olympian from Japan (Tomohiro Inoue), Mexico (Alfonso Leyva Yepez) and Brazil (Aline da Silva Ferreira).
Japan is bringing a pair of past Junior World champions in women’s freestyle, Miyu Nakamura and Yu Miyahara. 2017 Junior World champions from the United States expected to wrestle are Maya Nelson in women’s freestyle and Kamal Bey in Greco-Roman.
