Three U.S. Senior wrestlers will compete at the 2017 Beach World Championships in Dalyan, Turkey, October 13-15.
2017 U.S. Beach National champions Michael Peters (Quincy, Ill./Road Dawgs WC) at 70 kg/154 lbs. and Gabe Beauperthuy (Colorado Springs, Colo./Colorado USA Wrestling) at Over 90 kg/Unlimited will compete for the United States.
Peters currently competes for Div. II power Maryville University.
Beauperthuy will also represent the USA in the Grappling World Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan the following week. Beauperthuy has competed at World level events in Grappling and Belt wrestling, in addition to his success in Beach Wrestling and Greco-Roman wrestling.
Also competing for Team USA is Briar Runyan (Martinsville, Ind./Martinsville Madmen WC) at 90 kg/198 lbs.
The U.S. is seeking its first Beach World champion, although it has had a number of World medalists in the past. The USA has been competing in international Beach wrestling since 2006.

Beach Wrestling is included in USA Wrestling’s growing Associated Styles program, which also includes Grappling, Belt Wrestling, Pahlavani Wrestling and the Veterans wrestling division.
